Access to Cow Bay and Cape Tribulation is via a river ferry which operates daily between 5am and Midnight.
Once you have crossed the Daintree River, you will instantly be taken to another world.
Boasting exotic flora and fauna, guided or self guided tours through ancient rain forest, there are plenty of activities to enjoy this truly magical part of the world.
The Daintree River Ferry provides the only sealed road access to the northern part of the Daintree and access to Cape Tribulation.
During the peak tourist season there are often delays crossing the ferry. Particularly between 10am and noon travelling north and between 3pm to 5pm travelling south.
The ferry can carry a maximum of 27 vehicles and takes approximately 5 minutes to cross.
From November 1 to February 28/29 annualy, the Douglas Shire Council provides free travel on the ferry to those residing in the Douglas Shire, Mareeba Shire Council, Cairns Regional Council, Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council, Tablelands Regional Council, Cook Shire Council, Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council, Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council and Cassowary Coast Regional Council.
